Getting started

Where is Bookidoro?

In the menu bar, at the top right of your screen: the book icon. There's no Dock icon. Click it for your Library, Statistics, Settings and Read now.

How do I add a book?

Menu bar icon → Open… and choose a PDF or EPUB, or drop one onto the welcome window. No book handy? Library → Free books has thousands of public-domain classics; click Get and it becomes the book you're reading.

Why can't I open my Kindle or Apple Books purchases?

Books bought in those stores are copy-protected (DRM), so no other app can open them. PDFs and DRM-free EPUBs work, including ones you added to Apple Books yourself.

Reading breaks

A break didn't appear

Keyboard

In the reading panel: ← and → turn pages, Return means Done, and Esc skips the break.

The text is hard to read

Click Aa at the top right of the reading panel to switch between Paper, Sepia and Night, and to change the text contrast.

iCloud sync

Your Library, reading positions, statistics and settings sync between Macs signed in to the same Apple Account, with iCloud Drive turned on. Check Settings → General → Sync with iCloud on each Mac. Books themselves sync only if they're kept in iCloud Drive → Bookidoro (right-click a book in the Library → Keep in iCloud).
